We all experience stress in life and it's perfectly normal to do so, yet when stress turns into distress it can lead to all sorts of limitations and implications in life, including the physical embodiment of the feeling state (disease).
Anxiety is linked to our natural fight or flight response and is an essential aspect to our survival instincts. But if you are always in that anxious state then it becomes an issue that must be addressed and addressed NOW.
The main cause for this debilitative mental state of being is our relationship to our own thoughts! When you try to plan and control every detail of a potential future event it creates a state of worry, stress, and distress all over trying to ensure the desired outcome for a non-existent event.
Your mind will constantly bring up all the possible potential threats that will hinder your planned outcome, leaving you in a constant state of anxiety over a future event that may never even happen. Instead of ensuring you achieve the positive outcome you want, overthinking the negative potential events increases the likelihood of that negative outcome.
Anxiety drains you emotionally, physically, and energetically, reducing the time, focus, drive, and enthusiasm you need to achieve your goals in life. There is no way of knowing the future, and any time you project your attention into the future you are taking away your chance to enjoy this very moment, NOW. The only time that ever really exists is NOW, and anytime you exist outside of the NOW you are not living in the real world, but instead your own make believes one!
Just because something doesn't happen the way you wanted it to that doesn't mean it is wrong. Accept what is reality and look for the good in the current situation (there will be one if you look from an alternative perspective or place of non-attachment), instead of getting upset by it and trying to escape or deny reality as it is! How about that as a repeating thought?!
It is all working out exactly as it needs to achieve my bigger picture goal! It's just difficult to see while you’re experiencing the event first-hand! "The individual steps may change from my planned route, but I know every step takes me close to achieving my dreams!"
Think of yourself as a glass of water. You wake up with a full glass each morning and it is yours to use however you please. If you spend a third of your energy forward projecting to an uncertain future event, trying to control every possible element of it, then that’s a third gone without having achieved anything. The next third is then drained by the resulting physical embodiment of the state of anxiety, created by your constant worry of the unknown. This anxious state of being drains you mentally, emotionally, and physically, effecting your entire body and mind. So, before you have even started the day you're left with only a third of your glass full! A third of your potential daily energy to use in actualising your dreams, enjoying time with your loved ones and other activities you enjoy away from work, and let’s be honest, work itself probably demands at least a third of your daily energy, as it also demands a third of your daily units of time! So, after using the remaining third to get through a day at work, no wonder you have nothing left to enjoy the rest of the day. Throughout the week you count down the hours until the weekend, where that third of your cup left full can be used for enjoying life, even if it is only for a few hours at the weekend once a week!
